FAQs

Expungement is a legal process that destroys or seals a criminal record. This can include both misdemeanor and felony charges. Once expunged from your record, the slate is wiped clean and potential employers, landlords, lenders, and others cannot access these convictions through a background check.

Missouri allows criminal records to be destroyed or sealed. Both have the same effect – barring access to those charges and convictions – but they work differently. Expungement means that the criminal charges are wiped away completely, but this is only possible in certain situations. Closure of arrest records (destroying) is less common, expungement of criminal and DWI records means they will be sealed and is applied to a wider range of charges and convictions.

At STL Expungement Law, we’ll work with you to determine whether your charges can be expunged or sealed, and then we provide the reliable representation you need in court, as well as the guidance required to navigate these murky waters.

Missouri law allows many different types of convictions to be expunged. However, some cannot be sealed or destroyed. Class A felonies, violent felonies, crimes that lead to registration as a sex offender, and domestic assault convictions are among those charges ineligible for expungement.

We’ve worked with clients in St. Louis, MO, and the surrounding areas to help them seal their adult criminal records and gain a new lease on life. However, there are limits on the number of times you can expunge criminal records. Under current Missouri law, you may expunge only one felony record and two misdemeanor records in a lifetime.
